Imo State Executive Council has directed the state commissioner for works, Ralph Nwosu to repair the failed spots on Owerri-Onitsha Road.
The state Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba said the council observed the suffering of Imolites on the failed parts of Onitsha Road and has directed the commissioner for works to commence immediate repair.
He said though a federal road, the state government will not fold its arms and watch its citizens and other road users suffer untold hardship on the bad spots at Irrete and Oguta junction axis of the road.
The information commissioner also informed journalists of exco decision to ban all forms of mining and borrow-piting within Owerri capital territory.
He said the council observed with dismay that some criminal elements have been vandalizing and carting away valuables from some moribond government industries which he said the present government intends to resuscitate.
Emelumba also informed newsmen that the exco commended the governor for signing MoU with USAID for the provision of portable water for households in the state and as well for setting up the Imo Economic Development Agency.
