Roads I’ve Done Will Outlive my Administration – Ikpeazu

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu Ph.D. has stated that the roads his administration has done since it’s inception in 2015 will outlive his administration.

He said this on an interactive session with some media groups in the State on Saturday through a zoom meeting.

He disclosed that when his administration took over in 2015, there were no routes, particularly to Ariaria.

“Our traders in Aba were taking their wares to Ikot Ekpene to sell because there was no route to Aba or Port Harcourt road even though the challenge of Port Harcourt is still there but we have made adequate provisions for it.”

“There was a big challenge in Faulks road especially at Ukwu mango and Ikonne axis and we worked on that. After the initial construction, we didn’t get the desired result, we had to change the contractor and brought in Setraco.”

“The design for Faulks road was to build an underground waterway to pump water from Ifeobara basin to waterside but the pipes were too small so we are working on getting a bigger pipe so the water it can carry the water channeled to the waterside.”

Governor Ikpeazu reiterated that Amachara medical center has achieved 98% success in combating the COVID-19 virus in the State. And that before he stepped out to receive treatment, he visited at least three doctors in Abia State but had to leave to Abuja when his health kept deteriorating.

“I came down with a fever at first in the evening, I was given anti-malaria drug Lunar but my health was still deteriorating. I conducted a malaria test and was placed on drugs but I was not getting better which prompted me to a hospital in Abuja for a checkup. Before then, I was tested on COVID-19 which came out negative so it was a thing of concern. That was the major reason for going to Abuja.”
