Kaduna State government has expressed concern over the increase in unlicensed private health colleges and hospitals, saying it will start closing such institutions in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Baloni, disclosed this while answering questions from newsmen at the One-Day Quarterly Interactive Forum with the theme, “Improving Health Care Delivery Through Basic Health Care Provision Fund Implementation,” supported by Save the Children held in the state.
She said already the state had started investigating to know the actual number of unlicensed health schools in the state.
“Those who are not registered will be asked to come and regularise so that by the time we go out, nobody should come to intervene. Criteria for opening a school are not the same as opening a hospital.
“Just because I have a licence as a medical doctor doesn’t mean I can just go and open a medical school or that you are a nurse you can open a nursing school,” she said.
