The British High Commission has opened a temporary submission visa center for UK visas in Enugu State from the 13th of September 2023.
In a statement on Monday, it made it clear that the temporary visa center will open as a premium lounge and will cost N246,256 which will include SMS notification, premium lounge appointment, courier returns, and general support and guidance.
The premier lounge will operate at Omedel Luxury Hotel located at Independence Layout and will offer a twice-a-week service.
The statement made it clear that applicants will be given the choice of selecting Enugu Center as their UK visa in addition to other centers in Port Harcourt, Lagos, and Abuja.
In July 2923, the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, made it clear that it was increasing visa application fees which would help bridge the gap after the country approved a pay increase in public sector wages.
He said, “If we’re going to prioritize paying public sector workers more, that money has to come from somewhere else because I’m not prepared to put up people’s taxes and I don’t think it would be responsible or right to borrow more because that would just make inflation worse
“So, what we have done are two things to find this money. The first is, that we are going to increase the charges that we have for migrants who are coming to this country when they apply for visas and indeed something called the immigration health surcharge (IHS), which is the levy that they pay to access the NHS.
“All of those fees are going to go up and that will raise over £1 billion. So, across the board visa application fees are going to go up significantly and similarly for the IHS,” he said after announcing a wage increase.”
Meanwhile, the UK fee for the Student Visa is $485 (Naira 3,82,907) while the UK fee for the Short-term Study Visa is $259 (Naira 2,04,480).
