Olushola – ‘Enough is Enough: A Nation Held Hostage by Empty Promises’
By Otunba Babatunde Olushola Senbanjo (BOS)
Since 2015, Nigerians have endured the governance of the APC, a party that rode into power on the back of loud propaganda, inflated hopes, and promises of “change.” Nearly a decade later, the reality is starkly different. What we have witnessed is not the transformation of a nation, but the systematic erosion of hope, the deepening of poverty, and the continuation, if not escalation, of the very vices the APC swore to eliminate.
They came with promises to end corruption, tackle insecurity, boost the economy, create jobs, and restore dignity to governance. But where are the results? Corruption has not disappeared it has only changed form. The same names and faces recycle positions while the masses bear the brunt of inflation, unemployment, failing infrastructure, and insecurity that continues to claim innocent lives daily.
The so-called fight against terrorism has become a tragic charade, with insurgents still operating freely, bandits collecting taxes in rural communities, and kidnappers turning entire highways into death traps. Under APC’s watch, our armed forces have been overstretched, under-equipped, and demoralised while billions are budgeted annually with little accountability.
The economy? A complete disaster. The naira has lost over 70% of its value since 2015, and today, the average Nigerian struggles to afford basic needs. Food prices have skyrocketed, unemployment continues to rise, and young people have two options: endure or escape.
Now we are being sold the “Renewed Hope” agenda as though we’ve forgotten the broken promises of the “Next Level” or the “Change” mantra. But how do you renew what was never delivered in the first place? This isn’t renewed hope; it is recycled deception, dressed in the same tired robes of incompetence and elite greed.
APC has mastered the art of propaganda media headlines, social media trends, and press conferences, but governance is not about perception; it is about results. And the results, by every measurable index, have been nothing short of disappointing. We are tired of excuses. Tired of slogans. Tired of watching a few feast while millions are left to starve. Tired of leaders who are detached from the pain of their people.
This is not the Nigeria we were promised. And if this is the best APC has to offer after nearly ten years in power, then it is time they stepped aside and allowed a new vision to emerge one built not on propaganda, but on truth, competence, and accountability.
We will not be silenced. We will not forget. And we will not stop demanding the Nigeria we deserve.
