Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has assured the people of the State that he will relay the demand of the protesters to President Bola Tinubu.
He made this known while speaking to the people of the State who stormed the government House in Benin as the ongoing protest to end bad governance in Nigeria kicked off.
Addressing protesters, he said, “Any message wey una send, na em I go carry go Abuja.”
The protesters who demanded a reversal of fuel price and electricity hike to the previous price before May 29, 2023, told the Governor that the people were hungry and so could no longer endure the economic hardship going on in the country.
In a post on X, Governor Obaseki assured that his administration will continue to tackle the issues that can be tackled at State level and urged the Federal government to do likewise.
“My Edo people, I have heard you. I empathise with you and understand why you have taken to the streets. As your governor, I will continue to address the issues that can be tackled at the state level, and urge the federal government to do likewise.”
