The 2023 Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, expressed optimism that the Labour Party would not only win but also take over power in Lagos in 2027.
Rhodes-Vivour made this declaration while answering questions from journalists in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, where he attended an extended stakeholders’ meeting of the Labour Party.
He mentioned that the party has been strengthened to capture Lagos State. He also stated that the party has been planning and strengthening its position since its successful performance in Lagos during the 2023 elections, where it won the former Nigerian capital during the presidential election.
The former gubernatorial candidate expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, stating that the party’s future has been brightened.
He said, “LP is now well structured, not just to win but to take power in 2027. What we have come to do here in Umuahia is to bring everybody on the same page. We are set for new victories in 2027.
“I believe the Labour Party will win Lagos State more convincingly in 2027. Since after the 2023 elections, work has not stopped; we have not gone quiet. Every day, we are getting stronger and stronger
So, we are not just going to win but stand up and take power.”
Rhodes-Vivour accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of mismanagement, stating that its poor performance has made it easier for the Labour Party to win in Lagos and Nigeria in 2027.
He stated that the extreme economic hardship and increasing hunger in the country are clear signs of the incompetence of the ruling party in power.
