Otti Vows to Repatriate Pension Scam Syndicate for Prosecution

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has pledged to repatriate a yet-to-be-identified pension scam syndicate, stating that there is a limit to opposition.

“We have arrested a syndicate who were caught in a pension scam. Some of them are outside the country and we will make sure they are repatriated to answer to the stealing they are involved in. There’s a limit to opposition.”

Speaking at a media chat with journalists on Thursday night tagged ‘Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians’ expressed hope that the arrest and subsequent prosecution will deter others from stealing the State resources.

In discussing infrastructural development, Governor Otti emphasized that his administration is focused not only on building infrastructure but also on investing in the human capital of the State. He announced that a fund has been approved to support Abia sons and daughters who were trained in agriculture. This initiative aims to help the state achieve food sufficiency and promote overall development.

When discussing the state and local government elections, Governor Otti addressed the Labour Party’s failure to secure a seat. He stated that he remains a member of the Labour Party but highlighted that the people of Abia made their choice by voting for candidates they believed were best suited to lead at the local government level. He noted that this outcome indicates that other parties had candidates who successfully won the hearts of the voters with their manifestos.

“We had the much talked about LG election. It was one of the freest and fairest elections seen in this part of the globe. I thank the ABSIEC, the Commissioner for LG, and the Abia people for coming out to exercise their franchise. The new mayors and deputies have been sworn in and they would start work the next Monday. I’ll be hosting the outgoing Mayors and deputies for a job well done in the past year.”

He stated that the new minimum wage has been effected and the consequential adjustments were made. He stated that the few reported errors would be sorted out by the Commissioner of Finance.
