Abia Govt Flags Off Science Teachers Championship Program

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has flagged off the Science Teachers Championship Program organized by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in Collaboration with Athe ll Science Schools Project and Practical Academy Awards and Independent School Based Online Reward System.

Speaking while unveiling the project, at Ibeku High School, Umuahia, Pastor Ajagba said that the program will motivate science teachers and students who are inquisitive about science research to discover a sustainable solution to science problems.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Basic and Secondary Education, Sir Kenechukwu Nwosu, described the initiative as a moral booster to science teachers and students and enjoined them to visit via science, teacher, championship to register and participate free.

He said that the gesture was designed to complement the giant reformation of Governor Dr Alex Otti in the education sector, adding that the compulsory and free education policy of the Governor is yielding positive results as the enrollment of pupils and students has drastically increased.

In their remarks, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education Elder Goodluck Ubochi represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Uchechukwu Kanu and Director Science, Technical and Vocational Education Deaconess Hope Wosu said that the program will provide science teachers and students with scientific knowledge and technical know-how on research work and commended the Governor Dr Alex Otti for his giant strides in the education

Speaking to the CEO of Assppaa-Isbors Platforms Limited and Co-founder Promotors of the Science Teachers Championship, Mr Ejike Ochuba, said the program is designed to reinvigorate the method of the science teaching profession and make it more lucrative, interesting, attractive and entertaining.

Mr Ochuba said following the kick-off of the program, science teachers and students are expected to register online, adding that the best science teachers and students who turn up or upload their regular science research works, and experiments into the Science Teachers Championship (STC) will receive a handsome reward of 50,000 and #20,000 every month.

The ceremony attracted the presence of top government officials and Stakeholders in the education sector.
