Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents in the early hours of Tuesday, near New Marte in Borno State.
The attempted infiltration was swiftly countered by a combined force of ground troops and the Air Component of OPHK. According to military sources, the terrorists encountered heavy gunfire as they approached the military position.
According to Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations at Operation Hadin Kai Headquarters, Air support provided real-time intelligence and targeted strikes, resulting in the neutralization of scores of militants.

Two Nigerian soldiers were killed in action during the confrontation, while military forces recovered a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) SUV abandoned by the fleeing insurgents. Several motorcycles used by the terrorists were also destroyed by precision air strikes.
Following the battle, troops conducted a sweep of the area and discovered the bodies of numerous terrorists, as well as blood trails suggesting additional casualties during the retreat.
In a separate but related incident, troops also thwarted another attempted assault on the Forward Operating Base at Kumshe, underscoring the heightened alertness and coordinated defense posture of OPHK forces.
Military authorities praised the successful operations as a demonstration of strengthened collaboration between service branches, aimed at restoring peace and enabling socio-economic progress in the insurgency-affected North East region.
