Orji Kalu Commends Tinubu’s Bold Reforms on 2nd Anniversary

As Nigeria marks the second anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has lauded the president’s leadership, praising his “bold, deliberate reforms” and unwavering commitment to repositioning the country for long-term prosperity.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the former Governor of Abia State and current Senator hailed Tinubu’s administration for tackling longstanding national challenges with “courage, clarity, and decisive leadership.”

Kalu pointed to key policy moves including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate as courageous steps that have freed up resources and restored investor confidence in the Nigerian economy.

“The removal of the fuel subsidy, though initially unpopular, was a necessary step to rescue Nigeria from fiscal hemorrhage,” Kalu said. “Likewise, the unification of the exchange rate system is a transformative move that is already beginning to restore transparency and investor confidence.”

The senator also praised progress in infrastructure, security, and social investment programs. He cited advancements in transportation, power, and housing, as well as the establishment of the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund as evidence of Tinubu’s proactive approach to development.

On security, Kalu acknowledged improvements in coordination among the armed forces and ongoing investments in their morale and welfare, while commending new social programs aimed at supporting vulnerable Nigerians, small businesses, and students.

Internationally, Kalu noted that Nigeria is “asserting itself with clarity and strength,” crediting Tinubu’s diplomatic outreach with revitalizing Nigeria’s leadership role on the continent and strengthening partnerships globally.

Reflecting on his own experience in governance, Kalu said, “President Tinubu’s approach has shown that leadership is not about taking the easy path, but about choosing what is right for the country’s long-term interest even when it is hard.”

He called on Nigerians to rally behind the president’s vision, emphasizing that nation-building is a shared responsibility.

“These first two years have laid a strong foundation and I am confident that even greater progress lies ahead,” Kalu said, concluding with a congratulatory message to the president and a prayer for the nation.
