Police Arrest Notorious Armed Robbery Suspect ‘Abba Fiya’

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect, Abba Aliyu, popularly known as “Abba Fiya,” during a prompt response to a distress call in Kano metropolis.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect was arrested on 21 December 2025 by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Daba Unit while responding to a reported armed robbery incident at Hausawa Quarters.

The operation was carried out in accordance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, regarding rapid response to distress calls, and under the instruction of the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

The suspect, a 26-year-old resident of Dala Quarters, was arrested with a sharp knife in his possession. Police described him as a notorious criminal who specialises in armed robbery and violent gang activities.

During interrogation, Abba Fiya reportedly confessed to carrying out several armed robbery operations and engaging in rivalry Daba fights in areas including Gobirawa Gangare, Dala, and Tudun Fulani Mayanka within Kano State.

Further discreet investigations revealed that the suspect also confessed to involvement in a series of armed robberies across Kano, Rivers, and Lagos States, some of which allegedly resulted in deaths, injuries, and loss of property.

Police authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
