‘Abia Will Be APC’ – Orji Uzor Kalu Declares
The Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that Abia State will be an All Progressive Congress, APC, as the 2027 election approaches.

He said this in an interview in Ebonyi State when he was hosted at the Ebonyi country home of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha.
He emphasised that he is going to work for the APC despite his close friendship with the State Governor Dr Alex Otti.
When asked to appraise Governor Otti’s performance in office, Orji Uzor Kalu said, “I don’t discuss politics; he is my friend. Abia will be APC and I’ll vote for my Party. I’ll work for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to win in Abia State.”
Senator Kalu also tasked State Governors to secure their State as that is their job as the Chief Security Officers of the State.
Meanwhile, Governor Otti made it clear during his media chat with journalists in December 2025 that he had no intention of defecting with the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, to the African Democratic Congress, ADC. But he will stay back in the Labour Party to explore all options of repositioning the Party and will only consider defection when all options fail.
