INEC Debunks Fake Timetable for 2027 General Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed as false and misleading an online article claiming that the Commission has released a timetable for the 2027 General Elections.

In a statement, INEC clarified that the article titled “BREAKING: INEC Releases Timetable for 2027 General Elections,” currently circulating on some online platforms, is entirely fabricated and should be disregarded by the public.
According to the Commission, it has not released any official timetable, schedule of activities, or dates relating to the 2027 General Elections. INEC stressed that all details contained in the false report including purported election dates, campaign periods, and party primary timelines are speculative and have no official basis.
“The information does not represent the plans, decisions, or position of the Commission,” INEC stated, warning that the document being shared online did not originate from any of its departments or authorised channels.
INEC urged the general public, political parties, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to rely solely on its verified communication platforms for accurate and authentic information.
These include the Commission’s official website, its verified social media handles on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram, as well as official press statements and bulletins issued directly by the Commission.
The electoral body reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and assured Nigerians that all official announcements concerning the 2027 General Elections would be made through appropriate channels and at the right time.
INEC also advised citizens to remain vigilant and avoid spreading unverified information that could mislead the public or undermine confidence in the electoral process.
