Middle Belt Forum Disassociates from Food Blockade, Says Region Can Feed Nigeria

The Middle Belt Forum has disassociated the region from the ongoing food blockade initiated by the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers.

The MBF, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna State stated that ‘the era of divide & rule by the so-called core North is over, completely buried & gone for good.’

The Secretary of the Kaduna State chapter, Mr John Haruna reiterated that the region will continue to do business with the Southern part of the country.

It stated clearly that Benue and Taraba State can feed the entire Nigeria while revealing that the region will continue to maintain a cordial relationship with its Southern brothers.

Read the full statement;

“All ethnic nationalities within the Middle Belt region comprising of youths, farmers, traders artisans e.t.c, from Benue, Kogi, Taraba, Plateau, Nassarawa, Adamawa, Southern Borno, Southern Kaduna, Southern Bauchi, Southern Yobe, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, and FCT Abuja disassociatcalledemselves from attempts and call by some disgruntled elements to block food supply to the Southern part of the country.

Let it be known to the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff & Cattle Dealers Association (AUFCDA) that the so-called divide & rule by the so called core North is over, completely buried & gone for good.

Such cannot be tolerated any longer; we no longer anybody’s deceit & lies.

In fact, Benue, Kogi and Taraba states alone can feed the entire Nigeria.

We will not leave any stone unturned to make sure we continue to maintain the existing good and cordial relationship with our Southern brothers.

No amount of blackmail shall force the Middle Belt to part ways with Yorubas, Igbo, Ijaw, Binis, Ibibios and the other ethnic nationalities in South.

The forum unequivocally advises those who are championing and supporting the call, to rethink and desist from further making such an empty threat that will not augur well for them and their sponsors.”
