2023: Jombo Declares for Ohafia/Arochukwu Seat, Reveals Plans to Leave a Footprint

Businessman Chief Kelvin Jombo has stated that his plan to represent the Ohafia/Arochukwu House of Representatives was to leave a footprint just like the late Sam Mbakwe and late Dr Michael I. Okpara who are still used as reference years after their passing.

Speaking at his declaration for the Ohafia/Arochukwu Constituency seat in Abiriba on Tuesday, Chief Jombo revealed that being a philanthropist has opened his eyes to the needs of the people and which has fueled his determination to represent his Constituency at the federal House.

“My purpose is to go there and do my best. Leave a footprint just like Sam Mbakwe and M.I. Okpara who are still remembered years after they are gone.”

Chief Jombo who is currently based in Lagos State revealed that he has helped over 150 youths and women in his Constituency in one way or the other and knows that going into the House will help him reach more youths in the society.

“Categorical my stating what I’ve done will be praise-singing but ill mention a few. I’ve been able to empower about 150 youths in this constituency, both at home and abroad. I’m yet to do 1% of the projects in my head as there is no amount of money ill have as a person that will give me what I want to do. I built the Afiankwo market, a regional market the women and youths use every week. I felt bad when I saw the sorry state of the market. Abiriba has been a place where the government have not been able to do much for them as people contribute to developing the place. If we continue to embrace that notion, no matter how much we contribute, we would not build anything compared to what one bill or decision passed by the house can achieve. I’ve done the market, I’ve electrified the expressway that leads into Abiriba with over 365 Street lights, I’ve done roads that lead from Ndi-him to Ndi-Ogo. Ive built a council hall and renovated the road that leads to Abiriba stadium. Ive done a lot for this community when it comes to infrastructure but I still believe that this is nothing compared to what we can attract to this place if I’m elected into the House.”

When asked if the past representatives of Abiriba/Ohafia/Arochukwu have duly represented the Constituency, Chief Jombo said, “I’m not here to castigate whoever has been there. I believe that the reason why I want to be there is to do better. Success is a process, we can’t say we have seen the best. Whoever is there has done his best and I need to go there and do my best.”

Revealing his plans for his people, he further stated that as a people-oriented individual, his bills will focus on vision and empathy.

“I’m a people-oriented person. My bills will mostly focus on vision and empathy. For not being quoted by my opposition to score cheap points, I’ll rather not say them but I have a lot that I plan to bring on board.”

Speaking about the zoning of the governorship to Abia North and Abia Central, he revealed that power is taken not given.

“I don’t know about zoning, what I know is to let the best hand take over Abia State. I’m not here to talk about who the ticket should be given to but to talk about going into the House. Power belongs to God and as a person, I know that I’ve what it takes to run for the election and I’m very much optimistic that I’ll clinch the PDP ticket.”
