‘Trump’s Approach, Precisely What Africa Needs’ – Moghalu

Professor Kingsley Moghalu, the President of the Africa School of Governance, has stated that the approach taken by President Donald Trump of the United States is precisely what Africa needs to wake up.
He emphasized that being overlooked by Trump, who took office on January 20, 2025, may serve as a wake-up call for all African nations to effectively manage their resources and prioritize the interests of their people.
Speaking on X on Sunday, Moghalu, who is also the 2023 presidential candidate for the Young Progressive Party (YPP), commented that the discussion surrounding “what Trump means for Africa” has become cliché and tedious.

“Being sidelined by Trump is exactly what Africa needs. We need to wake up and stop moaning about what Trump “means for Africa”. Africa needs to take its destiny into its own hands and chart its own course. Just tired of the “what Trump means for Africa” discourse of dependency.”
Moghalu also expressed disappointment that Nigeria has yet to appoint and announce envoys to various countries nearly two years after President Bola Tinubu was inaugurated. He asserted that Africa must assert itself and stop remaining passive in global policies.
