INEC Receives Petition for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Recall Process
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received a petition to initiate the recall process for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who serves as a Senator in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received a petition to initiate the recall process for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who serves as a Senator in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Rose Oriaran-Anthony, the Secretary of the commission, received the petition on Monday. The petition was signed by over 250,000 out of 480,000 registered voters in the Senatorial District.
It accuses Senator Natasha of gross misconduct, loss of confidence, and a pattern of deceitful behaviour.
The petition demands that INEC commence the constitutional and procedural process for her recall and declare her seat vacant.

Last week, reports emerged that residents of Kogi Central were allegedly misled into signing the recall form under the pretence of participating in an empowerment program. Some constituents publicly criticized those who deceived them into signing the document, which ultimately led to the recall effort.
It is also worth noting that Senator Natasha had previously accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexually harassing her following a dispute over seat arrangements in the Senate. She was subsequently suspended for six months but has continued to call out the Senate President regarding the harassment allegations.
