Tambuwal Accuses Tinubu’s Govt of Pushing Nigeria Towards One-Party State, Vows to Support Atiku Over Wike
Former Sokoto State Governor and current Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, has accused the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of actively working to destabilise opposition parties in a bid to establish a one-party state in Nigeria.

Speaking to Seun Okin on Channels Television’s Programme Politics Today on Friday, Tambuwal claimed that “the signs are very clear and very obvious that the people in charge of our government today in Nigeria are interested in a one-party state.”
He alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government is orchestrating a deliberate campaign to weaken democratic opposition across the country.
Tambuwal, a key figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also reiterated his commitment to unseating the Tinubu-led administration in the 2027 general elections, stating: “I am committed to sending Tinubu’s government out of office.”
Speaking about his past political decisions, Tambuwal distanced himself from former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, saying: “I will rather support Atiku than Wike. I disagreed with Wike on principles. I didn’t have a problem with President Goodluck Jonathan, but we disagreed on principles, so I left the party for the APC.”
