Tragic! Man Kills Grandparents Over Food Dispute
A 30-year-old man, Mutawakilu Ibrahim, has been arrested for the alleged murder of his grandparents during a violent altercation over a food-related disagreement.

According to a press release signed by the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the tragic incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Kofar Dawanau Quarters in Dala Local Government Area.
At about 9:30 a.m., the Dala Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress report indicating that the suspect had engaged in a heated quarrel with his grandparents, identified as Muhammad Dansokoto, 75, and Hadiza Tasidi, 65. During the altercation, Ibrahim allegedly attacked the elderly couple with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds.
Both victims were rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel. Their remains were later released to their family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
The police noted that the suspect was possibly under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the incident. Following his arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for further investigation.
“The suspect will be charged in court upon the completion of a discreet investigation,” the statement concluded.
