Police Arrest Motel Owner, Two Others; Recover Firearm, Hard Drugs
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old motel owner, Mr Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi, along with Abdullahi Shaibu, 26, and Obah Chima, 18, over alleged unlawful possession of a firearm and involvement in illicit drug activities in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

As disclosed by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer on Thursday, the suspects were apprehended by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, following credible intelligence received in the late hours of February 9, 2026. Acting on the information, the police stormed a motel in Uke where the trio was arrested.
During a search of the premises, officers reportedly recovered a Jojef pump-action gun with breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Mr Ibeabuchi allegedly confessed to the crime.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Crystal Methamphetamine, Colos, and Mkpuru-mmiri.
The Police Command reiterated its commitment to ongoing operations aimed at combating criminal activities across the state. It also urged members of the public to continue providing useful information to support law enforcement efforts.
