Court Jails Human Trafficker Seven Years, Imposes N4 Million Fine

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on May 7, 2026, sentenced a human trafficker, Bose Jimoh, to seven years imprisonment and a fine of N4 million for organising foreign travels that promoted prostitution and for the intentional exportation of victims for exploitation.

Jimoh was convicted under Sections 14(b) and 18 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act (TIPPEA) 2015.

The defendant was arraigned on a four-count charge filed on October 15, 2025. Following the conclusion of trial proceedings, the court found her guilty on all counts.

According to the judgment, the court sentenced Jimoh to five years imprisonment and a fine of N1 million on Count One for exportation of persons knowing they would be subjected to exploitation.

On Count Two, she was also sentenced to five years’ imprisonment and fined N1 million for the same offence.

For Count Three, which bordered on organising foreign travel that promotes prostitution, the court handed down a seven-year jail term alongside a N1 million fine.

Similarly, on Count Four, Jimoh received seven years imprisonment and a N1 million fine for organising foreign travel that promotes prostitution under the TIPPEA Act 2015.

The court ordered that all prison terms run concurrently with effect from May 7, 2026.
