The Nigeria Police Force has denied the authenticity of a viral video that shows uniformed personnel in camouflage scooping fuel from the wreckage of an accident involving a tanker. They claim the video was released to discredit the Nigeria Police Force.

The Police Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, clarified that the individuals seen in the video are not officers of the Nigeria Police Force. Instead, they are uniformed personnel from a neighbouring francophone country, and their camouflage uniforms closely resemble those of the Nigeria Police.

Adejobi noted that the individuals in the video were speaking in French, not in any Nigerian language or English. He condemned the spread of disinformation and unverified content aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the Nigeria Police Force.
He emphasized that such actions not only undermine the integrity of the police force but also have serious negative consequences for the nation and its citizens.
