Fire Razes Catholic Catechist’s House in Umuahia
The home of Mr Benjamin Amaechi, a Catechist at a Catholic Church in Amaokwe Ugba, Umuahia North LGA of Abia State, has been destroyed by an inferno.

The home of Mr Benjamin Amaechi, a Catechist at a Catholic Church in Amaokwe Ugba, Umuahia North LGA of Abia State, has been destroyed by an inferno.
The four-bedroom apartment was razed down early this week in mysterious circumstances, as there was no electrical spark or surge before the fire outbreak.
The couple, who suspects foul play, stated that the fire started in the Catechist’s room while they were asleep and quickly spread to other parts of the building.

Despite the efforts of sympathetic community members and the Abia State Fire Service, the building was completely destroyed. Margaret Amaechi, a teacher, noted that
The couple, who appreciated God for sparing their lives, said that the incident happened when they were preparing for the burial of Mr Amaechi’s mother-in-law, whose corpse is still in the mortuary.
He, however, appealed to the public for assistance in their time of need as they were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
