The Abia State House of Assembly has directed its Committee on Education to collaborate with the Abia State Universal Education Board (ASUBEB) and write to the Governor of Abia State to address the frequent road accidents occurring near Osusu Primary and Secondary School in Osusu Aba, which are caused by reckless driving.
The motion was raised by Hon. Aaron Uzodike, who represents Aba North, during a plenary session on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
He noted that these accidents have resulted in the hospitalization of over five students at different times, creating a serious threat to the safety of both students and staff.

Hon. Uzodike urged that the Ministry of Works be tasked with constructing speed bumps in front of the school to help reduce the risk of accidents.
He also requested that ASUBEB be instructed to build a perimeter fence around the school to enhance security.
Additionally, he highlighted the issue of overcrowded classrooms, noting that the Free Education Policy has led to an influx of students, with over 150 students occupying a single classroom. He stressed the urgent need to construct additional classroom blocks to accommodate this growing student population.
