Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has announced that he communicated with the Rivers State House of Assembly regarding the 2025 budget presentation before arriving for the session.
“Before I came here, I personally wrote a letter to the Rivers State House of Assembly and made efforts to reach out to the Speaker and other members,” Fubara stated at the Assembly Complex on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
This followed an incident where the lawmakers locked the gates of the Assembly quarters, preventing him from representing the 2025 budget.

“Unfortunately, as you can see, the place is completely sealed off and there are no activities taking place. However, there is no cause for alarm. Perhaps they are working on the letter, and once they are done, they will get back to me,” he continued.
In a letter seen by Newsleverage, it was confirmed that the Governor reached out to the lawmakers after a meeting he had called was not held, to inform them about the budget presentation as mandated by a Supreme Court judgement.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, dismissed the letter written to the Rivers Assembly as “rubbish.”
