NDLEA Thwarts Cocaine Smuggling Attempt Hidden in Prayer Bead

Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle cocaine hidden in prayer beads and locally made shoes. The suspects intended to transport the illicit substances to the Holy Land, but their efforts were thwarted by the agency.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, confirmed that the agency’s officers were able to seize the drugs before they could reach their destination.

Babafemi shared images of the concealed cocaine on social media, revealing the inventive yet unlawful methods used by the smugglers.

The agency’s statement accompanying the images emphasized the contrast between the holy nature of the month and the criminal actions of the suspects: “In this sacred time, when people are dedicating themselves and making prayers, some individuals were focused on smuggling cocaine within prayer beads and handmade shoes, aiming to tarnish the sanctity of the Holy Land.”
