NBC Bans Eedris Abdulkareem’s Protest Song to Seyi Tinubu ‘Tell Your Papa’
The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC has banned Veteran Singer Eedris Abdulkareem’s song ‘Tell Your Papa’ from being aired on Broadcasting Stations in the country.
The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC has banned Veteran Singer Eedris Abdulkareem’s song ‘Tell Your Papa’ from being aired on Broadcasting Stations in the country.

The song, which is a protest song, was addressed to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, over the hunger and decline in the economic situation of the country.
The NBC stated that the song violated Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.
In a memo to all Broadcast Stations signed by Susan Obi, the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring on 9th of April 2025, she urged the Broadcast Station to maintain responsible broadcast.

In the track, Abdulkareem raps: “Seyi, tell your papa country hard. Tell your papa people dey die. Tell your papa this one don pass jagajaga.
“Seyi, how far? I swear your papa no try. Too much empty promises. On behalf of Nigerians, take our message to him; kidnappers dey kill Nigerians.”
“Seyi, try travel by road without your security make you feel the pains of fellow Nigerians. You dey fly private jets, insecurity no be your problem.”
