The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a fraudulent healthcare operation disguised as a medical evangelism outreach in Abuloma, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The illegal scheme, exposed through a public tip-off, was being run at the Community Town Hall by individuals posing as missionaries.
The group was found administering unregistered drugs and distributing dubious health products, including “Evangelist Jenkins Supernatural Water” and “Evangelist Jenkins Eye Drops.”
These products were falsely promoted as cures for serious conditions such as cancer, fibroids, glaucoma, and arthritis.
According to reports, several unsuspecting residents who used the products suffered adverse reactions. One notable case involved a patient experiencing swollen eyes, which the operators misleadingly claimed were signs of healing.

During a raid led by NAFDAC’s Rivers State Coordinator, Pharm. Emmanuel Onogwu, a woman identified as Mrs. Gladies Theophilus, was apprehended. The primary suspect managed to flee and is currently at large.
All counterfeit products were seized and transferred to NAFDAC’s zonal office, and a full-scale investigation has been launched.
The Agency reiterated its commitment to eradicating fake and unregistered medical products from the market and urged the public to remain alert and report suspicious health activities.
NAFDAC emphasised its zero-tolerance policy towards the proliferation of counterfeit healthcare services and continues to call on Nigerians to verify the authenticity of medical treatments and drugs.
