‘Stop Calling My Child Duduke’ – Simi to Fans
Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has appealed to fans to stop referring to her daughter, Adejare, by the nickname “Duduke.”
Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has appealed to fans to stop referring to her daughter, Adejare, by the nickname “Duduke.”

The name gained popularity following the release of Simi’s 2020 hit single Duduke, which she released while expecting her daughter with fellow musician Adekunle Gold. The song quickly became an anthem for expectant mothers, leading many to associate the child with the track’s title.
In a recent conversation with media personality VJ Adams, Simi voiced her discomfort with the nickname, clarifying that “Duduke” has no actual meaning.

“People call my daughter Duduke, which I don’t like. That’s not her name. It doesn’t even mean anything,” she said. “Had it meant something good, I would have allowed it. But it’s just a beat duduke, duduke. That was what I meant. My heart beats like a drum.”
While she acknowledged that the term likely stems from affection, Simi emphasized that the song’s emotional value should not override her daughter’s real name.
“Stop calling my child Duduke [laughs]. But you know what? I get it, it’s coming from a good place, so I try not to react,” she added.
