“No Vacancy in Aso Rock” Is Insulting to Nigerians – ADC Slams APC, Tinubu Over Insecurity, Governance
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has lashed out at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over recent claims that there is “no vacancy” in Aso Rock ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the statement as “insulting” to millions of suffering Nigerians.

ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi made the remarks in an interview with Seun Okin of Politics Today on Channels TV on Wednesday, warning that the APC cannot unilaterally determine the future of Nigeria’s leadership while the country grapples with insecurity, economic hardship, and declining public trust.
“It is insulting to Nigerians for the APC to say there is no vacancy in Aso Rock,” Abdullahi said. “The APC should not be marking its own papers. It is the Nigerian people who will decide if there is a vacancy or not.”
Abdullahi argued that such pronouncements from the ruling party reflect a dangerous sense of entitlement and detachment from the realities on the ground. He pointed to worsening insecurity, citing travel advisories from the United States and other countries as evidence that the government is failing in its most basic responsibilities.
“Travel advisories from the US and others show that whatever President Tinubu’s government is doing is not working. Bandits have taken over some parts of the country,” he said.
He challenged President Bola Tinubu to step out of the comfort of the presidential villa and engage directly with Nigerians rather than rely on feedback from political allies.
“President Tinubu needs to leave the Aso Villa, go to the streets and talk to the people, and stop listening to governors who just want to endear themselves to power,” Abdullahi added.
The ADC spokesman also reaffirmed Peter Obi’s involvement in the opposition coalition, clarifying that while Obi is not formally registered with the ADC, he has been part of the alliance from the beginning.
“There is no problem with the ADC. Peter Obi has been part of the coalition from day one. He is not a card-carrying member of the ADC for now,” he noted.
