Tragedy as Tricycle Rider Kills 100-Level Student Near Federal University Lafia
A 100-level student of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Ijeoma Blessings Nweke, has tragically lost her life after being knocked down by a tricycle rider near the university campus.
The fatal incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, as Nweke attempted to cross the road near a speed bump close to the university gate alongside her friends.
According to reports from security analyst Zagazola Makama, the tricycle rider, identified as Fidelis Zakka from Agyarangu Tasha in Obi Local Government Area, was transporting female passengers from Kayarda to the school area when he struck the student.
Nweke was rushed to the Federal University Lafia Clinic and later referred to the National Hospital in Abuja. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.
The Nigeria Police have confirmed the arrest of the rider and impoundment of the tricycle at the ‘A’ Division Police Station in Lafia. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
