Strengthening Tax Reform: Peter Mbah Hosts CITN Leadership
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a fair, accountable, and efficient tax system in Enugu State, declaring that strengthening the state’s revenue framework is key to delivering sustainable development.

The governor made this known while receiving the leadership of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), led by its 17th President, Innocent C. Ohagwa, during a courtesy visit to his office. The delegation included the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Emmanuel Ekene Nnamani, alongside other distinguished members of the Institute.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Mbah emphasised that tax reform goes beyond revenue generation, describing it as a matter of fairness and accountability.
“Strengthening our tax system is about fairness, accountability, and building a state that works for everyone,” he said.
The visit centred on deepening collaboration between the state government and CITN to enhance taxpayer and stakeholder awareness of the Tax Reform Acts and ensure their effective implementation across the state. This follows the South-East Sensitisation Programme jointly organised by the Institute and the state revenue service.
Governor Mbah reiterated his administration’s resolve to entrench a transparent, technology-driven revenue system designed to eliminate leakages, broaden the tax base equitably, and channel public funds into visible infrastructure and social development projects for residents.
He noted that the government remains focused on converting improved revenue generation into tangible progress, underscoring his administration’s vision for a modern and prosperous Enugu State.
