ADC Denies Merger Talks with PRP, Reaffirms Commitment to Legal Battle
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports circulating that it is in discussions with the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) ahead of an anticipated court ruling affecting its leadership.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson on Monday, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party described the claims as false and misleading, stressing that no such negotiations are taking place with any political party.
“The coalition leadership is not having any such conversation with any political party at the moment,” the statement said, categorically denying speculation of a possible alliance or merger.
The ADC reiterated its focus on challenging what it described as “illegal actions” taken against its leadership by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and alleged agents of the ruling party.
According to the party, overturning these actions through the courts remains its primary objective.
The statement emphasised that safeguarding the rule of law and preserving Nigeria’s multiparty democracy depends on a favourable judicial outcome.
While acknowledging openness to broader opposition collaboration in the future, the party insisted that it has no intention of abandoning its current platform.
“While we are open to expanding the coalition to bring all opposition elements in the country together to rescue our country, we remain clear about the responsibility that this moment has imposed on us. We will not abdicate that responsibility.
Therefore, any suggestion that we are considering abandoning the ADC is preemptive and speculative, and should be ignored,” Abdullahi said.
Despite concerns over what it called the “bastardisation of democratic institutions,” the ADC expressed confidence in the judiciary, urging it to withstand external pressures and uphold democratic principles at what it described as a critical moment for the country.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to its leadership structure and its ongoing legal efforts.
