Legal practitioner Abdul Mahmud has formally withdrawn his petitions against Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amabua Muhammed, citing ongoing efforts to resolve related disputes through peaceful and amicable means.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mahmud said the decision was taken to promote dialogue, mutual understanding, and reconciliation among all parties involved in the matter stemming from the case of Commissioner of Police v. Abdul Mahmud and Emmanuel Ejeh.

According to him, the petitions have been officially withdrawn and should be regarded as abandoned by the Police Service Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Mahmud further appealed to media organisations and the public to refrain from publishing or circulating materials related to the withdrawn petitions.

The full statement titled WITHDRAWAL OF PETITIONS AGAINST DCP AMABUA MUHAMMED reads;

“In light of the ongoing efforts by all parties to resolve the issues arising in Commissioner of Police v. Abdul Mahmud and Emmanuel Ejeh peacefully and amicably, it has become necessary to foster an atmosphere that encourages dialogue, mutual understanding, and reconciliation.

To this end, I have formally withdrawn my petitions against DCP Amabua Muhammed and have requested that they be treated as abandoned by the Police Service Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, and the Code of Conduct Bureau.
