Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has described a former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim as a man whose public service credentials and experience are good enough for the Presidency of Nigeria.
Governor Ikpeazu stated this today at his Country Home, Umuobiakwa in Obingwa LGA when he received Senator Anyim who visited him.
Governor Ikpeazu said that he was fully in support of the Nigerian President of South-East extraction, noted that it was just for the Igbos to be given a chance to produce the next Nigerian President.
The Governor said that no other tribe in Nigeria has demonstrated practical belief in the Nigerian nation better than the Igbos as can be seen from the fact that our people live and invest heavily in every part of the country. He added further that in the South East and indeed across the country today, the credentials of Senator Anyim stand very tall.
He advised him to take his message across the country and assured him of the prayers and support of the people of Abia State in his quest to run for the office of the President of Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, Senator Anyim told the Governor that the came to formally inform him and the party leadership in the State of his plans to contest for the Presidency of the country in the 2023 elections. He told the Governor that the South East was the most qualified zone in Nigeria to produce the next President on the basis of equity and justice.
He said that after a careful analysis of his antecedents, experience, passion and wide contacts across the country, he decided to make himself available for the contest. He asked for the support of the Governor and the party in the State, assuring that he will be a candidate and a President that our people will be proud of.
Senator Anyim was accompanied on the visit by a Member of the House of Representatives from Ebonyi State, Hon. Livinus Makwe who gave a vote of thanks wherein he expressed deep gratitude to the Governor for the very warm reception accorded to them.
Former Deputy Governor Eric Acho Nwakanma, National Assembly Members Darlington Nwokocha and Chimaobi Ebisike, Leader of the State Assembly, Hon Solomon Akpulonu, Assembly members – former Speaker, Rt Hon Kennedy Njoku, Hon. Nnamdi Allen Nwachukwu, Hon Uzodike Aaron, State Chairman of the PDP, Rt Hon Asiforo Okere, members of the State Working Committee of the Party and some key stakeholders were at the event.
