Activities have been halted at Muritala Muhammed Airport in Lagos State as workers protest over the sacking of 50 staff on Tuesday.

The industrial action which kicked off on Tuesday morning by the union of Bi-Courtney barricaded the gate of the airport so passengers cannot go in or out of the airport.
All passengers scheduled to fly out are currently stranded and have been advised to seek another mode of transportation.
Meanwhile, it is not yet clear why the workers were laid off but sources reveal that the sack was unjustified.
On Monday, bus drivers under the aegis of the National Union of Road and Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Lagos State embarked on 7 days indefinite strike over extortion.
Its statement reads in parts; “All illegal money at garages and parks must stop; harassment of law enforcement agencies and intimidation (allegedly with guns, cutlasses and broken bottles) by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) task force and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) must end immediately.”
Meanwhile, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised to meet with the union leaders over its protest.
