Lagos Govt. Backtracks, Reveals One Body Recovered from Ikoyi Building Collapse

A body has been recovered from the rubble, two days after a Six Storey building collapsed at 1st Avenue, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos State on Friday, 14 April 2023.
In a search and recovery, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) workers’ unearthed the remains of the male who was unaccounted for by site supervisors.
According to the Lagos Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso revealed that the ‘site has been divided into quadrants for a painstaking search and rescue operation. Quadrants 2 and 3 have been leveled to ground zero, with the search operation completed. Quadrant 4 is ongoing.’
‘When a roll call was done by the site supervisors, everyone was accounted for. Nobody could ascertain whether the victim whose body was found this morning was on the site – as of the time the roll call was taken.’
The Lagos State Government had stated earlier that nobody died from the accident but revealed that twenty-five people were rescued from the site when the building went down on Wednesday and are all responding to treatment.
