PEPT: Senate Majority Leader Admits $460,000 Forfeited by Tinubu Was from Narcotics
At the ongoing Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele admitted that the $450,000 forfeited by President Bola Tinubu was from narcotics trafficking while stating that it was not a criminal offense.
At the ongoing Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele admitted that the $460,000 forfeited by President Bola Tinubu was from narcotics trafficking while stating that it was not a criminal offense.

He made this known on Wednesday when he stood as a witness to defend President Bola Tinubu’s nationality stating that he obtained his citizenship by birth.
On further examination, Senator Opeyemi stated that Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded election is not a member of the Labour Party as revealed in the registrar of the Labour Party in Anambra State submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Section 77(3) of the Electoral Act, mandates every political party to submit a comprehensive register of members to INEC, 30 days before its presidential primary.
Stating that narcotics trafficking is not a criminal offense, Senator Opeyemi who has a bachelor’s degree in Arts from the University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo, a Law Degree from the University of Benin, has an LLM in New Hampshire United State Law School and licensed, an attorney at the New York bar, a counselor at law since January 1999 and also a Fellow of the Chartered Institutes of Arbitrators in Nigeria said he will rely on ECOWAS report as evidence before the court and so it was admitted as evidence and tagged as exhibit RA27.
Meanwhile, the five-man member panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani gave all respondents ten days each to file the written address.
