The Rivers State Police Command has initiated a search for the kidnappers of Aribibia John Fubara, a Director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service, who was abducted in Port Harcourt last Saturday.

On Saturday, August 24, 2024, at around 8:20 p.m., a group of roughly six armed men arrived at the Okrika Waterfront near the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt in a speedboat and reportedly abducted Fubara. The assailants created chaos by firing shots into the air before taking Fubara forcibly and fleeing to an unknown location.
Fubara, who is also a Knight of Saint Christopher in the Anglican Communion, is still missing at the time of this report. His captors have not made contact with his family or the authorities yet. Emmanuel Fubara, the victim’s younger brother, confirmed the kidnapping and stated that the incident had been officially reported to the police.

Following the abduction, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, mentioned that CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Commissioner of Police, has ordered the tactical teams and Anti-Kidnapping units to ensure Fubara’s safe release. She confirmed that a manhunt is underway to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
“The command is aware of the incident, and the Commissioner of Police has instructed the tactical units to ensure the victim is released unhurt. We have launched a manhunt to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book,” Iringe-Koko said.
