The Obidient Movement has launched an official online registration portal along with an identity card system, marking a significant step towards realizing a collective vision for a New Nigeria.
The platform, which is accessible to all Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, including the newly introduced identity cards, was unveiled on Saturday, embodying the spirit of unity, diversity, and the expansive reach of the Obidient Movement.
According to Dr Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, and Nana Kazaure, the Director of Strategic Communication and Media, each card displays the flag of the cardholder’s country of residence, allowing members in the diaspora to be proudly recognized as part of the global Obidient community.
Each Obidient ID starts with the universal prefix “OBX,” creating a unified identity for all members, whether they are located in Nigeria or abroad.

The card features a unique code consisting of two letters and two numbers. These codes represent your state and local government area (LGA) if you reside in Nigeria or are a diaspora voter returning home during elections. The two-letter state codes align with Nigerian state abbreviations (e.g., “LA” for Lagos, “DE” for Delta), while the two-digit number corresponds to your LGA of registration.
For Obidients residing outside Nigeria, the format includes a three-letter country code (e.g., “GBR” for the United Kingdom), distinguishing them from those within Nigeria while maintaining a consistent design.
The movement emphasizes that members’ privacy and identity are protected through a randomized numeric code on the ID. For example, there is no sequential numbering, meaning high-profile individuals like H.E. Peter Obi will not be assigned an ID marked “001.”
Each card also includes a QR code in the bottom right-hand corner, which can be scanned using any smartphone. This feature allows for real-time verification and fosters trust when interacting with fellow Obidients, whether for support, community service, or business dealings.
Once registration is complete, each applicant will undergo a verification process, which may include social media handles (such as an X/Twitter profile) to streamline identity confirmation.
However, members are advised to exercise caution and conduct independent due diligence before entering any personal or business relationships.
