41 Properties Worth N212bn Allegedly Linked to Former AGF Malami
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has traced 41 properties allegedly linked to Abubakar Malami, former attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice.
According to TheCable, the anti-graft agency identified the assets in the course of ongoing investigations.
The properties are said to include hotels, residential buildings, parcels of land, schools, and a printing press located across Kebbi State, Kano State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A breakdown of the assets shows that properties traced to Kebbi State are valued at N162,195,950,000. Those located in Kano State are estimated to be worth N16,011,800,000, while properties in the FCT are valued at N34,685,000,000.
The total estimated value of the 41 properties stands at about N212 billion.
Neither Malami nor his representatives have publicly responded to the claims as of the time of this report. The EFCC has also not yet issued an official statement detailing the status of the investigation or whether charges will be filed.
Malami served as Nigeria’s attorney-general and minister of justice from 2015 to 2023 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
