The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned two young men in connection with the murder of their employer, Mr Ikechukwu Simon Nwite, in Onitsha, and the theft of millions of naira from the deceased.

Police operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) brought the suspects before the High Court in Onitsha on March 18, 2026, following investigations into the incident.

According to Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the prime suspect, 21-year-old Chiemerie Anieke, is alleged to have fatally attacked his employer with a pestle, striking him on the head. Authorities also linked him to a separate attack on one Ogechukwu Nwite in the Fegge area of Onitsha.

He was arraigned alongside another 21-year-old, Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, who is accused of aiding the crime by providing a bank account through which more than ₦8 million belonging to the deceased was allegedly transferred.

According to the police, a total of ₦6 million, believed to be part of the stolen funds, has been recovered from the suspects and presented as evidence in court.

Both suspects have been remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
