Nigerians React to Abure’s Visit to Nyesom Wike

Nigerians have reacted to the visit of Julius Abure, the factional chairman of the Labour Party, to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Sunday at Wike’s Abuja residence, calling the latter a traitor who sold the Political Party to the ruling class.

This comes shortly after pictures of Abure and the former Rivers State Governor surfaced online, which were shared by Lere Olayinka, an aide to the FCT Minister.

Reacting, @afrisagacity shared The Story Behind This Picture!

“The slim man on the right, wearing a white caftan and a timid smile, is Julius Abure. He used to be the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), a party that sprang from nowhere to become Nigeria’s leading opposition, although, until recently.

Before the 2023 Presidential elections, the LP couldn’t boast of a single elected official. Its leadership had a clique of beggarly political jobbers, who fed from “hand to mouth,” particularly from the proceeds of “political transactions” they did once every four (4) years.

Julius Abure, himself, was battling poverty, for a man of his status. His share from the once-in-four-years political transactions was meagre, not enough to sustain his poor life. He lived in a 2-bedroom apartment and drove an old Toyota Sienna car that he overused with terrible mileage.

Peter Obi adopted the LP to contest for the 2023 Presidential election and Julius Abure underwent a rebirth. He went from being one of the idlest party chairmen in Nigeria to becoming the busiest. In a space of a month, he got a new SUV, a furnished apartment, and lived on salary.

Julius saw his life transformed in a short time and he amassed even the vanities he hadn’t dreamt of, including owning a land and a house in Abuja’s choice locations, all made possible through Obi’s influence.

The LP jumped to become Nigeria’s third largest political party, having a governor, senators, reps and state assembly members, all numbering over 60 officials. Obi won the election in reality but lost on official papers.

Tinubu ascended into office and declared Obi the No. 1. Enemy, who must be dislodged before the 2027 elections.

Julius Abure was hit by faux self-awareness. He realised that Obi was a target for both the government and the people, and the LP was the sought-after platform, and his greed was piqued.

He wanted more, a lifetime gain, or you may call it, generational wealth. He’s in control of an asset that Tinubu wanted and was ready to give all for. He didn’t mind sacrificing Obi’s ambition and the mandate of Nigerians for the LP in pursuit of self-gain.

So, he availed himself for the purpose.

It is rumoured that, through him, “state sponsors” funded the crisis in the LP. They bought a few other principal officers of the party to fight Peter Obi and stifle his 2027 ambition.

Abure and his clique didn’t and don’t mind the enormous goodwill Obi’s contesting under the LP will bring and the long-term benefit they would get if they backed him. For a pot of porridge, they sold their house.

On the left is Wike, Nigeria’s first Minister to own three jobs in one circle – Federal Minister, Godfather of a State, and President’s Special Political Strategist.

He’s the hand that controls the political chords that emit the local sounds of politricks in Tinubu’s government. He’s also the director of current political theatrical plays, the dynamics and styles.

Julius Abure meeting Wike means only one thing – Peter Obi MUST be stopped by all means invincible.

This picture was taken shortly after their closed-door meeting for three reasons: One, to tickle Peter Obi’s hard heart and his followers with caution and, possibly, some fears. Two, to draw attention to the fake political sagacity of Tinubu and Wike, his man Friday. And three, to prove that Julius Abure is a lost sheep.

The denouement of the theatrics will either offer a sweet surprise or a sorrowful sitch for the Nigerian audience, who spectate while the political actors play chess with their future for self-aggrandising win.”

@realevabest wrote; “You get the gist right? Julius Abure meets with his Manager to discuss the next line of action.”

@Gospelcaesar said “Abure has brought the entire Labour Party to pay homage to WIKE.

ADC Dey sign players Wike Dey sign the whole political party There are levels to this game”

@egbe_ntu said “Julius abure didn’t waste time to unveil himself. He has been a mole in the Labour Party.”

@Nnaemekaedeh1 wrote “The Supreme Court judgement doesn’t have any ambiguity. It was straightforward. Julius Abure is no more important; he’s trying to show relevance, which rather shows that all is not well with him. He has shrunk beyond recognition worse than Nyesom Wike. The toad does not run.”

@emekaelenwoke “If the Nigerian Supreme Court isn’t COMPLETELY USELESS, why would Abure still remain relevant, paying visits? Why is his name still on the INEC register as chairman of the Labour Party even after the Supreme Court’s verdict sacking him?

Do you now see who is behind the Labour Party crisis?”

@drcharlesodogwu “PDP now completely grounded, Wike wants to gum-body with factional LP to remain relevant.

I pity Abure who has no honour and does not realise how badly he’s being used.”

Recall that Abure’s faction has recently called for the resignation of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate in response to Obi’s growing alignment with a coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a move viewed by Abure’s camp as a betrayal of the Labour Party’s structure and unity.

While the purpose of Abure’s visit to Wike remains undisclosed, political analysts have begun to speculate on its implications, given Wike’s influence and controversial political manoeuvres within the ruling party and opposition circles.
