Four Rivers Lawmakers Defect from PDP to APC

Four members of the House of Representatives from Rivers State have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers are Awaji-Inombek Abiante, who represents Andoni/Opobo Federal Constituency; Boniface Emerengwa of Ikwerre/Emuoha Federal Constituency; Boma Goodhead, representing Asari-Toru Federal Constituency; and Manuchim Umezuruike of Port Harcourt I Federal Constituency.

In a letter read by the Speaker Tajuddeen Abbas, the lawmakers said their Defection stems from the prolonged unresolved crisis in their party.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Alhaji Muttaka Dalhatu, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside members of his executive committee and several ward chairmen.

The defectors were formally received on Wednesday at the Abuja residence of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
