FEC Approves ₦2.08tn for 23 Road Projects Across 10 States, Awards ₦1.83tn Niger Highway to Dangote
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved 23 road projects worth ₦2.078 trillion across 10 states of the federation as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure nationwide.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this after the FEC meeting, stating that the projects span Adamawa, Taraba, Ebonyi, Kwara, Cross River, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Oyo, and Plateau States.
Umahi also announced the approval of a 409-kilometre dual carriageway in Niger State, to be executed by the Dangote Group under the Federal Government’s tax credit scheme for ₦1.8325 trillion.
According to the minister, the road, originally awarded to CGC in 2022, was re-scoped following concerns over repeated accidents involving fuel tankers along the corridor, which claimed several lives.
He explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the transfer of the project to Dangote because of the company’s significant investments along the route.
“The total approved under the Dangote Tax Credit Scheme is ₦1.8325 trillion,” Umahi said.
The minister further revealed that the first 118-kilometre section of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Highway, valued at ₦257 billion, has been completed, while the remaining 164 kilometres are expected to be delivered by November.
He also announced that President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Works to immediately commence the procurement process for the reconstruction of the failed sections of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway using reinforced concrete pavement technology.
Among the major projects approved by FEC are the construction of the Tungo–Karamati Road with five bridges linking Adamawa and Taraba States; the Jemeta–Mayoni–Mayo Belewaro Road in Adamawa; the Abakaliki–Afikpo dual carriageway and the Enugu–Abakaliki Road with an international market flyover in Ebonyi State.
Other approvals include the Ikere-Ekiti–Iju Road linking Ekiti and Ondo States; the Badeku–Jayo Road, Oyo–Odo Alignment–Ilora Road, Igbeti–Igboho Road, Igoho–Soro–Kishi Road, Iseyin–Ipapo–Agbese Road, and the Ogbomoso–Oko–Ilobu Road connecting Oyo and Osun States.
FEC also approved the construction of a flyover at Akolowo Junction in Kwara State, the Ilorin–Ogbomoso dualisation, the rehabilitation of the Ilorin–Omu-Aran–Egbe–Kabba–Obajana Road across Kwara and Kogi States, as well as the rehabilitation of the Kabba–Ado-Ekiti Road.
Additional projects include the Adi-Uku–Ajassor–Obudu Road in Cross River State, the Pacific–Mejo Road linking Ibeju-Lekki and Ikorodu Road in Lagos State, the Daban-Mangi Road in Niger State, and the Baban Lamba–Sharam Road (Phase II) in Plateau State.
Umahi said the approvals underscore the Tinubu administration’s commitment to expanding and modernising the nation’s road network to boost connectivity, improve safety, and stimulate economic growth across the country.
