Monitoring team visits LGA Projects

The Joint Project Team which was set up by Abia State Government to monitor Projects initiated by past Transition Committee Chairmen has visited Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen at the Ikwuano Local Government Livestock Farm situated in Ariam Osoigwe, the Commissioner for Joint Projects Chief J. J. Okoro and his counterpart in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sir G. C. Onyendilefu noted that the essence of the tour is to inspect projects that were carried out by past Transition Committee Chairmen of the Seventeen (17)Local Government Areas through the State Government in a bid to ascertain their various levels of performance.

They expressed satisfaction at the level of progress achieved so far at the Ikwuano Livestock Farm while stressing the need for the TC Chairmen to complete all ongoing projects before embarking on new ones.

The Commissioners also revealed that other Local Government Areas will be visited in due cost especially the Ozuitem Water Scheme, Amoji Imenyi bridge in Bende LGA and the Akara motor park in Isuikwuato LGA saying that the monitoring exercise will enable the Local Government TC Chairmen to do better.

Also speaking, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Barr. Stanley Ojigbo described the Governor Ikpeazu-led administration as one that will ensure it delivers the dividends of democracy to its citizens and also achieves series of victories, promising to replicate same in the grassroots level and ensure the Local Government stands out.

He pointed out that the LGA has been confronted with problems such as erosion menace having identified over Forty (40) active erosion sites; he also noted the importance road constructions within the LGA which will facilitate the movement of goods to the market and upgrading of the Ndoro, Ariam and Ibere markets to the Ubani Ibeku ultra-modern market standard and thereby called on the State and Federal Government to come to their aid.
