Insecurity: Onwusibe Calls for Release of IPOB Leader Kanu

The member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency Ginger Onwusibe has asked the House to amend the motion to ensure the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to end the incessant killings in the South East.

He made this known following a motion that was moved by the member representing Ohaukwu/Ebonyi Federal Constituency Eze Nwachukwu on Thursday in Abuja during plenary.

Mr. Eze moved a motion entitled “Need to Forestall Further Killings in Ebonyi Local Government Area, and the Rising Insecurity in Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Ebonyi State.

But the motion was deferred by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas who stated that the matter should not be brought up under the killings in Ebonyi State.

NAN reports Mr. Abbas said, “This is a topical issue, my ruling on this is that I will defer ruling on this at this particular time and I will invite both the minority and majority leaders.

So while I rule on other motions and amendments that have been proposed, that particular one is suspended for ruling next week after due consultation.”

However, Mr Onwusibe argued that the insecurity bedeviling the region was a result of the prolonged detention of Mazi Kanu who was arrested in Kenya and repatriated to Nigeria in 2021.
