Lawmaker Bemoans Northern Fate, Says Bandits Crippling Education System

The All Progressive Congress, APC, representative of the Kaura-Namoda-Birnin Magaji federal constituency, Sani Jani in Zamfara State has stated that criminal activities are crippling the education system in Northern Nigeria.

Mr Jaji was reacting to the abduction of students at the Federal University Gusau and another incident in Katsina while speaking to journalists in Abuja.

He disclosed that the actions of both the federal and state governments have not provided any solution to the incessant kidnapping and killing and called on both bodies to unite to fight insurgency.

“Addressing the issue through motion, discussing killings in various constituencies, observing a minute of silence, and calling on security agencies to take action has not provided a solution to the problem,” said Mr Jaji.

According to NAN, Mr Jaji stressed that insecurity which is a major concern in the North should have a nationwide awareness and should never be treated as a political game.

He said the recent dispute between the Zamfara government and the federal government regarding dialogue with bandits had only exacerbated the situation.

“The minister of defense claimed that community-led dialogue with the bandits did not involve federal government intervention, but the presence of military personnel during such dialogues raises questions,” stated Mr. Jaji.

He added, “These concerns intensify as incidents like the kidnapping of Federal University Gusau students follow purported dialogues, prompting public figures to call for a holistic approach to address the insecurity crisis decisively.”

He said, “Insecurity in the North-West is a matter of great concern, as the lives and properties of the people should not be subject to political maneuvering.”
