Prof Al Bishak Creates Endowment Fund for Prof Olayemi Akinwumi Annual Prize for Creative Writing
Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State recently witnessed the endowment of an annual prize for creative writing by a sabbatical staff, Prof Al Bishak (M.O.N), in honour of the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Olayemi Akinwumi.

Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State recently witnessed the endowment of an annual prize for creative writing by a sabbatical staff, Prof Al Bishak (M.O.N), in honour of the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Olayemi Akinwumi.
The endowment ceremony of N50,000 prize for creative writing held on March 4, 2024 in the institution’s premises where the donor, Prof Al Bishak (in white-striped black shirt), handed the cash over to the Head of English and Literary Studies Department of the institution, Dr Peter Okpeh while NLNG Literary Criticism Prize winner and departmental staffer, Dr. Abbah Abbah cheered on.



Other members of staff present at the ceremony were Prof Abel Joseph, Prof Aito Ofure, who supported the prize with an additional N20,000.00; Dr. Ify Okolo, Dr. Sunday Ape, Dr Alhaji Solomon Iwegu, Mr. Nasuk and Dr Awobi, who anchored the event as MC.
Also present at the brief but historical ceremony were the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Arts as well as the EXCO members of the NASELS-FUL Branch led by its President, Miss Olajumoke Saheed.
Prof Al Bishak is a professor of African Literature.
